Stefan Cassadine stood patiently in the doorway of Dara’s condominium while she tried to collect her thoughts. The handsome, enigmatic aristocrat was, frankly, the last person she would have guessed to be on her doorstep. Their dealings in the past were strictly on a professional level, and involved her position as Assistant District Attorney.
“May I come in?” he asked. He sensed that Dara was caught off-guard by his unannounced visit. It was precisely the effect he had hoped to achieve.
“What do you want, Mr. Cassadine?”
Hmmm… It seemed that he had underestimated Miss Jensen a bit. She stood before him with her professional demeanor now intact. Stefan made note of her quick recovery.
“I would prefer to discuss this matter in private,” he said softly, “away from the curious ears of others.”
Dara made a point of leaning forward and looking past Stefan into the hallway. With the exception of Stefan’s silent bodyguard, the passageway was deserted.
The insolent action amused Stefan inwardly. It would appear that despite Alexis’ claims to the contrary, Miss Jensen did indeed possess a sense of humor. It was an aspect of her personality that he previously had no opportunity – or reason - to discover.
“Touché.” He nodded his acknowledgement of her point. “Nonetheless, the matter I wish to put before you is sensitive in nature. I would feel more at ease if it might be done within the privacy of your home.”
Dara’s curiosity was piqued. Despite every instinct that advised her to send Stefan Cassadine on his way, she stepped aside and gestured him in. And missed his triumphant smile.
